I’m absolutely feeling the love for wild blueberries.
After reading Medical Medium where he described the difference between wild and normal blueberries being the same as the difference between wild and farmed salmon, I was in!
Luckily my local supermarket sold the exact variety he mentioned from Maine, and even better that frozen wild blueberries are even more nutritious because the freezing process just makes them more nutritionally robust.
Since when has a superfood been this easy and convenient?!
I won’t go into loads of detail here but check out his book because these nutritional powerhouses are literally magic! Containing the full power of the divine and being the food of resurrection. Fascinating!
This recipe also contains ashwaghanda, a typical Ayurvedic tonic and adaptogen that is excellent for supporting thyroid and adrenal health, along with a whole host of other benefits including reducing the effect of stress on your body and boosting your immune system.
Give this one a try and let me know what you feel!
If you’d like to read more about the benefits of ashwagandha for female health and hormonal balance then check out this article here.
1 cup frozen wild blueberries
1/2 cup whole coconut milk
1 tbsp hemp powder
1/2 tsp ashwagandha powder
…my favorite ashwaghanda powder so far that I’ve tried is Sun Potion, see image below. Its organic and wild crafted. The taste is pretty strong but this smoothie holds it well. You can also try adding the powder to nut milks and lattes 😉
Blend all ingredients until smooth.
I’ve made this as a smoothie bowl, I love #needaspoonconsistency – but if you’d prefer to make it ‘drinkable’ then use only 1/2 the banana and add 1/2 cup of coconut water.
