21 Feb The Antidote To Quick Fix Diet & Wellbeing Advice
Everyone has something to say about what you’re eating these days. Well, it feels like everyone, with opinions flying left, right and centre, whether it’s vegan, paleo or questioning if intuitive eating is just another way to ‘be on a diet’. The latter is especially revealing, as it’s a consequence of a mainstream health and wellbeing space that’s driven by ‘sound bite’ advice and a ‘fix-it’ mentality.
I get it, we’re all busy, ‘5 ways to lose weight fast’ is a more appealing proposition than ‘take 5 minutes to tune into your body and feel what emotions are disallowing your wellbeing’.
The problem is that natural health care, by its very nature, is a process not a quick fix. It’s an individualized journey, requiring your willingness to look withIN. This takes time and courage.
Diving deeper into your psyche, unraveling layers of experiences that have pinched you off from your blueprint of a healthy, BeUtiful body, is not for the faint of heart. Yet, it is precisely this journey, withIN U, that is the medicine for each and every one of us on this planet. Not a painkiller or a vegan protein powder.
You see, ‘what’ you eat, or whatever label you want to put on your food, is not the thing. And quite frankly, if you’re still arguing between vegan, paleo or whatever else, then you are missing the point entirely.
Not ‘what’, but ‘why’.
Your intention, the reason behind your choices. Your ‘why’, when inspired by your inner wisdom as a practice of self love and self care, is a completely different approach to being informed by what you think you should be eating with no regard for how your body actually feels about it.
The first means that you’re looking withIN yourSelf for ways to care for your wellbeing. There is an inherent sense of self-worth, love and appreciation for you and your body here that is the true power in this approach, which then infuses into your choices.
The latter is a symptom of a lack of self-worth and trust in yourSelf, an unwillingness to listen and honour your wisdom, either because you can’t slow down enough to hear it, or you give your power away by ‘thinking’ something needs fixing and that it’s an outside job.
A subtle difference, or so it seems, but it is night and day.
I urge you to take 5 minutes now to ask yourself – ‘what’s your ‘why’ when it comes to food, exercise and lifestyle?
Something else to be mindful of – there’s no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. Vegan or paleo, they’re both right and wrong, all at the same time, because it’s not what you eat but why, and what works for you may be different to me, and, this will change over time too.
So, the only meaningful way to care for your wellbeing and eat to support your BeUtiful body is to be present in the moment, stay connected with your inner Self and awake to your wisdom. Doesn’t that sound like the recipe for a happy life in any self-help book?
How wonderful that our body is a constant reminder of how to LIVE and LOVE, and when we’re not, our body lets us know about it through some kind of discomfort or dis-ease, indicating that something does need to change, but it isn’t just our diet.
There is a depth to ‘wellbeing’ that just cannot be avoided. We are required to dive deep into our well of Being.
I’m not trying to give you the impression that taking Holy Basil isn’t a good idea to reduce stress, or that eating more of a plant based diet won’t help increase your vitality and life force, generally speaking. What I am trying to say is that these acts, as wonderful as they may be, are not the ‘cure’, they’re a tool. Being U is the cure.
“To thine own self be true.”
