18 Mar Sirt Food Smoothie Recipe
One of the best things about being home is my mum’s food! Cliché I know, but we are so lucky because we LOVE to eat the same things; healthy, fresh, mostly vegan, amazing quality food.
Cooking food that we both love is such a pleasure and is special quality time together that I appreciate so much. It’s always so much fun too, but, we are clean girls, and so is the kitchen afterwards, both of us have a tendency toward OCD ‘Howard Hughes’ clean 😉 (mum more than me of course lol)
Usually, the smoothies are my domain but mum told me about this and I had to try it. I love to make smoothies that are simple, with as few ingredients as possible to help digestion and not overwhelm our system.
This one is the total opposite, it feels like it has everything but the kitchen sink in it, but it tastes so good! Whats more, the ingredients are mostly Sirt foods. These foods have been shown by research to turn on our ‘skinny gees’ in much the same way as fasting and exercise does. So, in theory eating these foods is quite literally eating yourself slim! Too good not to try, what can I say, it spoke to that old diet crazy in me!
This smoothie is NOT for the faint of heart, the chilli and turmeric pack a punch, BUT, it is bursting with nutrients and you will not be hungry after this I promise you! Give this one a try, if you dare…
100g organic Greek or coconut yoghurt
6 walnut halves
Handful of kale (stalks removed)
1 tbsp raw cacao powder
1 pitted date (Medjool)
1 tsp turmeric
1-2mm slice of birds eye chilli
200ml unsweetened almond milk
Simply blend all the ingredients in your blender and enjoy immediately.
Be careful how much almond milk you add so you can choose your favourite consistency. I quite like mine thick!
