Alignment; the easier (more powerful) way to detox

After a week of detoxing, Ayurveda style through Panchakarama, it got me thinking whether we need to focus more on daily ‘aligning’ through food and lifestyle, rather than doing crash-course detoxes periodically to restore our balance.

The need for a continuation of the gentle, more harmony inducing choices, relative to food and lifestyle, are never more acute than just after a cleanse or detox. When you feel your body as good as it’s meant to feel, you just feel so pure, soft and light, and don’t want to do anything to lose that feeling.

Yet, more often is the case that extreme detoxes are followed by a lifestyle, eaten and lived at the other extreme, and it really isn’t conducive to a happy, healthy body, or mind! Although this is the life so many of us live, especially when you throw in fast paced, busy lives and stress. Re-toxing becomes part of the course, seemingly unavoidable.

But what if there was an alternative that was more subtle, simple and practical. Focused on helping you to align rather than detox. Can you feel how much softer that becomes? Instead of an entire day, or week, on green juices it could be as simple as adding a tsp of spirulina to you water mid-morning or afternoon.

Small, yet powerful, if practiced consistently, daily steps that help us to align with our natural state of health, wellbeing and light.

This Thursday is the beginning of my 5 day Be Light Retreat, this will be a cleansing few days, but most of all it will be deeply relaxing, allowing the release and nourishment that’s necessary for greater alignment. This isn’t going to be a hardcore program, yet the transformational potential is ripe and ready to Be, literally.

During the intense times that we find ourselves living in, the future of health and wellbeing has to be simple and practical.  And really, when you think about it, why should our most natural state of health be complicated to experience?  The simpler we make it, the more accessible and affordable, in both time and resource, it becomes, and then we can actually put it into practice.  Too many nutrition and health resources today make health and weight loss sound so complicated and expensive to attain, but I feel this is more about business than wellbeing.  The truth is, and this is a belief we need to make sure we are on-board with, IS that a healthy, light feeling body is our birth right, it is our most natural, aligned state.

My hope is that we can all ‘real eyes’ this ultimate truth and tap into simple daily steps to align our body’s with ALL that we are, so we can live and Be the LIGHT that we already are, naturally.  This is certainly going to be my focus, following on from my last blog, The Beauty Within Self-Care.

So to help all of us, here are my quickest ways to ALIGN:

Spirulina

Full of the minerals that I bet you’re not eating enough of! Plus spirulina, a dark green algae, is blood sugar stabilising, creates hormonal balance, detoxifies, cleanses heavy metals, cools, alkalizes, calms and energizes, in the most grounding way. Add 1/2-1 tsp of spirulina powder to water/coconut water and drink mid morning or mid afternoon for a beautifying balancing effect.

Adaptogens

Holy Basil (as I talked about in my Cosmic Supplementation blog) and Ashwaghanda. Both are amazing for helping your body reduce the impact of stress to find greater balance and alignment. Each of us are different so if you’d like help knowing which is better for you let me know.

Eat More Cooked Food

Too much raw food, when you’re out of balance or under stress can cause more harm than good. To be easy on your body, especially at breakfast and dinner, when your digestion tends to be more delicate, eat cooked rather than raw food. Stewed apples rather than fresh fruits, steamed veggies rather than salad for example.  Lunch time is when your digestion is as its strongest, if you like raw food eat it between 12noon and 2pm.

Meditation

This should be first on the list, but I know when you’re feeling stressed and out of balance, the idea of meditating is not attractive. But that’s when we need it the most! Meditating for 15 minutes daily is the all-time quickest way to align. As you take your focus off the material world and into the vastness of space, all stresses and resistance slips away and this is what causes all the imbalance, dis-ease and heaviness in the first place. Cut that off, even for just 15 minutes, and your body will have the opportunity to heal and align.

Caffeine, Sugar & Alcohol

These all disrupt your body’s balance instantly and easily take you out of alignment. Being conscious of your consumption patterns of these three will facilitate a much easier process for you to align. You know what feels good and what doesn’t, what’s  an enjoyable amount, and how much leaves you feeling not good, guilty and lethargic. Listen to your body and take the inspired action, put it into practice for your own self-care, see my last blog.
